automathon — belt assessment and mail-merge

Automathon is a companion web application designed around a belt system (ceintures): students progress through successive levels by passing short assessments, each corresponding to a colour belt.

Automathon covers the full workflow:

  • Planning — lay out the mental-arithmetic themes for the year, belt by belt, in the Progressions panel.
  • Authoring — prepare and validate subjects, exercises and slideshows in the Scripts panel; validated entries land in your Library, ready to reuse.
  • Progress tracking — record which belt each student has reached and enter grades class by class.
  • Subject creation — generate assessment papers at the right level for each student, drawing on the snapshot files (.atmxs) produced by automath or on your Library.
  • Mail-merge — assemble and print a batch of personalised assessment sheets so that every student in the class receives a paper pitched at their current level, ready to hand out in a single operation.
  • Self-service publishing — bundle validated exercises and assessments into a small, self-contained web app your pupils run themselves to generate fresh interactive sheets, in the Publication panel.

These steps map to the seven panels of the interface — Settings, Progressions, Scripts, Publication, Assessments, Classes and Mail merge.
